第41回：I get that a lot（意味：よく言われる）

意味

“I get that a lot” は、人から何かを言われて「それよく言われるんだよねー」と返す時に使う定番のフレーズです。

「年齢より若く見えるね」とか「誰々に似てるね」というよくある会話はもちろんのこと、ちょっと持ち上げられたり褒められたりした時や、冗談・からかい半分で「ひどい奴だなー（笑）」とか言われた時の冗談っぽい返しとしても使えます（日本語と同じですね）。

例文

• A: You look younger than you are.（君、年齢より若く見えるよ。）
  B: Thanks！ I get that a lot.（ありがとっ！よく言われるの。）
  
• A: I’m sorry, but your name is difficult and I’m not sure how to pronounce. Could you help me out?（ごめんなさい。あなたの名前 難しくて、読み方が分からないの。教えてくれる？）
  B: No problem. I get that a lot.（気にしないで。みんなそうだから。）
  
• A: You look like Barak Obama.（オバマ大統領に似てるね。）
• B: Yeah, I get that a lot.（うん、よく言われるんだよね。）

他の言い回し

“I get that a lot” が一番良く耳にしますが、以下のような派生版もあります（”a lot” ⇒ “all the time” や “very often” となったもの）。

• I get that all the time.
• I get that very often.

他の言い方としては、「みんなそれ言うんだよ」という感じで”people tell me” や “people say that to me” を使った表現があります。

• People say that a lot.
• People say that to me a lot.
• People tell me that a lot.

“I get that a lot” の時と似たような感じで、上記の “a lot” の部分は “all the time” や “often” としても使えます。
